Structures and supports provided by the teacher that allow students to access content and help them demonstrate what they know and can do. Scaffolds are designed to remove barriers to learning while still allowing students to demonstrate the goal independently. For example, if the goal is for students to explain the water cycle, they could use a graphic organizer, sentence stems, and sorting cards as a scaffold.
